When faced with a new validation project, the considerations to weigh when making the "Outsource" vs. "Perform In-House" decision are similar to projects outside of validation:
- Do we have the time?
- Do we have the experience?
- Do we have an available contractor that's flexible enough to meet our needs?
Depending on the answers, outsourcing may be the way to go for your project. Consider:
- You need to consider if this one-off validation project is really where your internal resource should be spending their time: perhaps there is more value-add to be had by freeing your resource to work on a larger, more long-term strategic project.
- You may have more than one trusted validation supplier, each with multiple resources such that your project can be tackled ASAP.
- The resources at a validation supplier company encounter new equipment on a regular basis: there's a good chance that somebody at the company has validated your equipment/system (or one similar) previously. Also, your project is likely to be completed more quickly compared to using an internal resource, who may be pulled in multiple directions due to multiple priorities.
